From Ljubljana head to the Alpine region below the Julian Alps, to reach Bled, the magnificent Alpine resort. Ascend the old castle perched on top of a steep cliff above the glacial Lake Bled. The castle terraces offer spectacular views of the lake and its tiny island in the middle. Take a boat ride with ‘Pletna’ – traditional boat made by the locals, and reach the only true island in Slovenia or visit the fascinating Bled Vintgar gorge, one of the most popular natural features in Slovenia. A wooden path takes you along the picturesque gorge with the rushing river Radovna running through its 1600m long path and ending with the 13-metre waterfall Šum.
Stop for lunch in one of the typical Alpine restaurants in the area before heading on to Bohinj, Slovenia's largest glacial lake located in the Triglav National Park. Take a swim in the clear waters, a canoe ride or just a walk around the lake. The amazing natural enviroment of the lake will impress you by displaying unique scenery in every season of the year.
One final stop is in Skofja Loka, one of the oldest and well-preserved Slovenian towns. Have a walk around this medieval jewel, situated under a castle and a monastery.
