Explore More About Soca River:

One of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, the Soča is an important natural treasure in the Triglav National Park. It is famous for its deep emerald color and brisk rapids in the upstream area. 137 km in length, the Soča is an Alpine river with a mysterious karst source in Trenta, at the foot of the majestic Julian Alps.

The Soča is a veritable paradise for water sports enthusiasts, particularly fans of kayaking and fishing, as well as photographers and people looking to relax in natural surroundings. An extremely popular experience, rafting on the Soča is offered by over 30 sports companies in the Soča valley.

In accordance with the relevant decree, boating as a sporting activity on the Soča is permitted daily from 15 March to 31 October, to holders of valid permits for the use of entry and exit points. It is recommended that you review the river safety directions.

In the past decades, a number of important international kayaking competitions have taken place on the Soča. In 2007, several scenes for the Disney film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian were shot on the Soča rapids. Nicknamed the Emerald River, the Soča is famous for its stunning blue-green hue.

Rafting in the Soča Valley is one of those experiences that simply must be ticked off your adventure list. The most popular rafting route on the River Soča is 10 km long and runs from the bridge near Log Čezsoški, in the immediate vicinity of Boka Waterfall, to Trnovo ob Soči. The first gentle rapids of the River Soča accompany the rowing team with a guide, followed by more demanding parts of the river.

Rafting on the River Soča takes 2–3 hours. There are no special skills required for rafting except swimming.

Kayak descent on the River Soča inspires kayakers with special feelings of experiencing nature. Gliding on the wavy emerald water surface stops every once in a while in calm spots of the river and touches you with freshness, humming, and magical views. A kayak trip to the Soča Valley is a proper chill on the hot summer days, while you will forget all about bad weather on rainy days.

The Great Soča Gorge
This pristine gorge is one of the most beautiful natural sights on the Soča River and an important natural treasure of the Triglav National Park. The emerald green pools are intertwined into a 750-meter-long meticulously smoothed-out gorge that is only a few meters wide and 15 meters deep.
